Brand Spotlight: L’artisan Perfumeur

Before there was a niche fragrance market, there was L’Artisan Parfumeur. French chemist Jean Laporte created an unlikely banana eau de toilette for a party at Paris’s Folies Bergère cabaret. Two years later, he released another unusual scent, Mûre et Musc (one of the first perfumes to use blackberries), which made him famous among Europe’s underground perfume scene.

L’Artisan recently celebrated their 40th anniversary with a lineup of smartly redesigned heptagonal flacons and one particular spring scent – Bucoliques de Provence – the first in a limited-edition series which is said to honour a different region of France each year.
